The Venerable Hindustan Ambassador car is probably the only surviving car from a bygone era. After many cosmetic changes to the front grill, it finally had its major engine transplant sometime in the 1990s with an Isuzu engine. 1800 CC Isuzu Petrol engine gave the meandering Ambassador car - a respectable power. Naturally aspirated Isuzu 2 liter diesel engine and the mating 5 speed Isuzu gear box is frugal enough to interest the hardy tourist car operators.
